Opening Day!

Here's a shot from above the tram on Opening Day (Wednesday).  It was a snowy/rainish type of day; one that makes you realize you are in the Northwest.  Nevertheless it was skiing and lots of fun.  The quads burned all day and just today have finally stopped hurting when I walk down stairs.  Maybe there is something to say about preseason training.

After ski school today, Mako and I escaped the crowds and headed on down to Portage for a little cross-country ski.  It snowed yesterday, so it was still fresh and provided some great snow for a little tour around.  We didn't see too many animal tracks this time, just a couple snowshoe hare prints.

Happy Thanksgiving!

It's Thanksgiving Eve, it's time to make sure the Turkey is thawing and all the other goodies are around.  More importantly though, it's Opening Day here on the mountain!  Time to go skiing!

I'm sure there will be plenty of skiing pics to come, but here's a fun one of Sandy coming home from work last night.  (She was the one pulling into the driveway)

Early November

We've had our first big snow fall and it's now a warm day when it hits over 40 degrees.  We're also losing over 5 minutes of daylight per day and with the time change last week, sunrise is about 9am and sunset is close to 5pm.  What that means for me: I don't have to wake up early for the sunrises!

Anyways, we brushed the dust off our cross-country skis and took advantage of the new snow.  Mako was loving the soft, poofy snow until it became too deep and stuck to her on our trip out to Turnagain Pass.  Then yesterday all three of us treked out to Portage for a short ski before the weekend light faded.  I'm sure there will be plenty for photos like these coming up this winter...

Maine!

In early October Kate and Dave were married in Maine and we were lucky enough to make it out for the celebration.  It was great to meet up with Jess & Jared and catch the New England foliage.  We finally were able to see Sugarloaf in all it's Autumn glory and check out the valley we heard so much about.

Along the way we were able to see Acadia National Park and the Bar Harbor Cruise crowd.  It seems we just can't get away from the big Cruise Ships these days.  Luckily the weather gave us plenty of sun on our crisp New England days.

Congrats Kate and Dave!  Thanks for the great trip!

The past couple weeks...

Here are a few pictures from the past couple weeks, which include a trip to CA, a hike down the road in Portage and a couple Mako Halloween shots.  It was a great seeing Sandy's parents and finally meeting Didi and the weather was fantastic.  While Sandy worked in Santa Barbara I was able to get out an take a few pictures around town on on the beach.  It was a nice contrast to the snowy mountains back home.

Hope you like the pics.
